Hunter has been at Wind-FM longer than she’s been married to her husband, Steve. She began her radio career shortly after graduating college in Virginia Beach. “I was born and raised in Canton, OH,” she says. “I attended college in Virginia Beach because the brochure showed students walking on the beach.” Moving to sunny Florida wasn’t a far stretch.
Hunter has been with Wind-FM since 1999 and married Steve in 2006. In 2012, Hunter’s life changed more than she ever thought it could.
“I survived breast cancer in 2012,” she shares. “I couldn’t have gotten through it if it wasn’t for [the Wind-FM listeners]. The Wind-FM family of listeners are the best support a girl could ask for. Many thanks!”
Hunter gives back to her community through her work with the Bunco Babes of Ocala who raise funds for the local nonprofit mammogram assistance program “Michelle-O-Gram.”
Hunter is also a dog lover who adopted her pup Benny, “the best dog in the world.” Together, they visit nursing homes as often as they can to spread joy. “Benny mainly does it for the treats.” She reveals.
Hunter is truly a morning person, often joyfully singing in her office before the Hunter and Dupree morning show begins at 5 a.m. Her usual wakeup time is between 2:30 and 3 a.m., but she admits to “sleeping in” on the weekends… until 5 a.m…
