On August 29 at 7:15 a.m., North Central Florida Media (NCFM) launched 352today, a new, local news website focused on serving as the community connection for everyone living and working in the 352-area code. That includes towns in Alachua, Marion, Sumter, Lake, Citrus, Dixie, Levy, Gilchrist and Hernando Counties.
This launch was originally planned for September 5, 2023.
โThe 352today mission is to provide timely, relevant, trusted, and unbiased local news and information, for free,โ said Howard Tuuri, NCFM Vice President and General Manager.
โWe recognized the benefits of providing free access to coverage and assistance during Hurricane Idalia far outweighed our launch timeline,” Tuuri continued. โ352today aims to be the primary source of news, events, and stories that matter most to north-central Florida residents, fostering a strong sense of unity and engagement. Pairing the 352today news coverage with our two market-dominating radio stations (93.7 K-Country, 92.5/95.5 Wind-FM) allows us to reach and serve our community in a way that is currently unmatched.”
A Natural Brand Extension
Establishing a news division is a natural extension of the community connection North Central Florida Media has long provided as broadcasters. NCFM is best known for providing the public with the soundtrack for their lives with its popular radio stations 93.7 K-Country, 92.5/95.5 Wind-FM. In addition to great music free over-the-air and streamed online, NCFM has a long history of supporting community events and is well-respected in the business community for the successful marketing services it provides local businesses.
Breaking Down Barriers with Free Access
In an era where news outlets are shrinking and paywalls often restrict access to valuable information, 352today.com is proud to offer its content for FREE to all users.
โEvery member of the community deserves access to high-quality local news and information without financial barriers,โ said Denise Vickers, News Editor for 352today. โBy keeping content open and accessible, weโre ensuring that every individual in north-central Florida can be well-informed,โ added Vickers, a veteran journalist with more than 30 years of experience.
