Cross Florida Greenway is gearing up to participate in the 4th Annual North Central Florida Outdoor Expo on August 13! The Outdoor Expo is hosted by the North Central Florida Media Group radio stations 93.7 K-Country and 92.5/95.5 Wind-FM.
Park service specialist Bre Ximenes says the Outdoor Expo is the perfect place to get absorbed in the outdoors.
“We actually have a chance to talk to a lot of people who might not be as familiar about there being trails in this area,” she said. “And that’s for anybody who comes to the Outdoor Expo. There’s so many things they can get involved with.”
Cross Florida Greenway is a 110 mile long, 1-mile-wide multi-use trail. There are over 340 miles to hike, bike, and ride horses. The mountain bike trails are internationally known, and Ximenes says people from all over the world come to ride.
A canal was supposed to be built into the land but was deauthorized. The property had been taken away from so many people at the time.
At this year’s Expo, Cross Florida Greenway wants to recruit more volunteers, which comes with some sweet perks like a free Florida State Park Pass after serving a certain number of hours. Ximenes says she loves the volunteers, and they have a huge impact on the organization. They’ll also have maps with trail details, interpretation plaques, and general information on the Greenway and its importance.
“A lot of people have no clue what’s right out their back door and all the benefits of getting out, being active, and starting to love nature.”
Cross Florida Greenway and tons of other amazing vendors will be at the 4th Annual North Central Florida Outdoor Expo on August 13 at the World Equestrian Center!
