10 CAN Inc. is excited to participate in the 4th Annual North Central Florida Outdoor Expo on August 13! The Outdoor Expo is hosted by North Central Florida Media Group radio stations 93.7 K-Country and 92.5/95.5 Wind-FM.
10 CAN is our charity partner for the event and will receive a portion of gate proceeds. Founder Dr. Matthew R. Burke said the expo is unlike any other they’ve participated in.
“It just feels right,” he said. “This feels more like a grassroots event where people know each other.”
“10” represents 10 life elements (family, fitness, finances, etc.) and “CAN” stands for Christian Adventure Network. They focus on the military, first responders and their families struggling with PTSD. Their mission is to save heroes, raise warriors, and restore families through the great outdoors.
At last year’s Outdoor Expo, 10 CAN’s booth had hats, raffle tickets, and gun holsters for sale. This year they want to recruit more members, supporters and sponsors.
Dr. Burke served in the U.S. Air Force for 13 years but medically retired for injuries sustained in Afghanistan during an attack. He was inspired to help other veterans dealing with PTSD because of his own challenging experience after retirement.
“This basically comes from the struggles that I went through during my rehabilitation. I almost tapped out and I felt like I had to keep fighting for my children.”
10 CAN gets its members off the couch and involved in activities like hunting, fishing and even skydiving! Unlike other veteran therapy organizations, they don’t require anybody to be a particular level of disabled, just people who want to better themselves for their families.
10 CAN and tons of other amazing vendors will be at the 4th Annual North Central Florida Outdoor Expo on August 13 at the World Equestrian Center.
We hope to see you there!
